Steps: Performing a Google Shopping Competitor Analysis

1. Enter your competitor’s domain in the search bar.

2. Go to “PLA Research” in the left hand and you’ll see PLA data.

3. In the top left, you’ll see the amount of keywords your competitors has as well as the number of ads they are currently running for PLA search and paid search.

4. In the top right, you can see visual data that compares PLA data to paid search in order to see where your competitor’s budget is being allocated and how much is being distributed among PLA and adwords.

5. You can also see ALL of your competitors PLA keywords along with a picture of the ad by hovering that specific keyword.

6. Export report by Excel or CSV by clicking the “Export” button.

How to use SEMrush PLA Positions Report

The most important metrics to consider are position, search volume, price, and trend.

You can look at the product title for each keyword in the PLA data to examine what your competitor has been using to get people to click their ads and buy their products.

You can also sort by search volume to see some of the popular keywords that are driving traffic.

Sort by price to see the most expensive products your competitor has advertised.
