History of Shopify
Shopify was founded in 2006 by Tobias Lütke and Scott Lake.
They tried to open their own online store for snowboarding equipment but were not satisfied with the existing e-commerce platforms on the market.
Tobias was a computer programmer so he built an e-commerce platform on his own and together, Tobias and Scott, launched Shopify in June 2006.
Shopify went public on May 21, 2015 and has reportedly more than 1,700,000 businesses in approximately 175 countries using its platform as of May 2021.

Spotify was founded in 2006 in Stockholm, Sweden by Daniel Ek, former CTO of Stardoll, and Martin Lorentzon, co-founder of Tradedoubler.
The name is an etymology of a combination of “spot” and “identify.
Spotify launched in the United States in July 2011 and offered a six-month ad-supported trial period, where new users could listen to an unlimited amount of music for free.
It is now one of the world’s largest music streaming service providers, with over 356 million monthly active users, including 158 million paying subscribers, as of March 2021.
